Study of Oceans that make 71% of the Earth

A brief summary

Even though the the ocean makes up 71% of the Earth we have only explred about 5% of the ocean.
It doesn't matter if you live next to the ocean or if you live hundereds of kilometers away, we all have an impact on the ocean.

How are we connected to the ocean and why is it so important? Investigate the seven principles of ocean literacy, which includes understanding the features of the ocean and discovering the fascinating organisms living within it. Learn how humans influence our one big ocean while also depending on it, whether you live by the sea or hundreds of miles from it. So far, we have only explored about five percent of the ocean. Imagine what mysteries and surprises still await intrepid aquanauts.

What you will learn

  • Describe the main geological features of the world's ocean, Identify the defining characteristics of ocean water.
  • Understand how seawater moves around the globe, Outline the ways in which the ocean has created and shaped Earth's features.
  • Contrast the destructive and constructive forces that shape Earth's features.
  • Recall many of the elements found in the ocean and describe how they are needed for life on Earth.
  • Outline the ways in which the ocean influences daily weather and global climate.
  • Summarize the global water cycle. Describe the importance of greenhouse gases and characterize the impact carbon dioxide has on the biodiversity of the ocean.
